hear Basil and Ian speaking in low tones. It wasn't until they

were almost upon them that they could be seen in the weak

lighting.

At their approach, both men looked up and waved to the

women. Ian crossed the last few steps and kissed Sarah

lightly on the lips. "Sleep well?" he asked.

"Actually, I've had a dream I need to tell you about," she

whispered to him.

"Dantini?" he asked.

"Not really, but he was in it. I will tell you later." she

replied quietly, then turned to Basil.

"Are you ready for your lesson, Sarah?" Basil asked

cheerfully.

"Yes, I have been looking forward to it." she replied with a

smile.

"Good, good. It is always good to have an eager student,"

he said. "I see Penny's things fit you well enough. Now are

you right handed or left handed?" he asked, Sarah replied

right handed, "Here is your glove, put that on your sword

hand." She did as she was told. "Now, here is your mask," he

said handing her the protective wired face mask, which she

placed under her arm, as he continued. Pulling out a light,

long, narrow edged sword he walked next to her and showed

her the weapon. "This is a foil. It is lighter than the Epee or

the Saber. And since the Foil has rules which the others do

not, we will begin with this. The tip has been blunted so no

real injury can occur but accidents do happen and that is why

the protective clothing." Setting the foil aside he began by

teaching her the correct way to stand while fencing, which
